A look at Interior / Exterior Vertical Carving - by Nathan Giffin:

Video Content:

Tools I - III

These three videos cover the basic construction of texturizing tools. Even though these tools may appear basic and simple in there form, they are however extremely efficient.

Once you understand the principles of tool fabrication there is no limit to how many different texture tools or pads that can be created.

Textured Hand Trowels , Textured Rollers, Textured Pads or Skins

Design

There are many elements to design however in regards to vertical stone facing there are several keynote principles to follow that will help in the designing process. By keeping these principles in mind while designing your walls you will avoid the mistakes commonly created by new comers to the trade.

Carve I - V

Starting from the scratch cote base viewers learn the application of wall mixes and from there the designing elements, relief, carving technique, and clean out phases are illustrated. There are several sub straights covered.

Sample Board I - IV

One of the most important videos on the site, these enforce principles covered in the Carve I – V videos and go beyond into several methods of carving accents into your stone wall structures. Other tools covered in the Tools videos are also illustrated.

Painting I  -  IV

Concrete stains are covered and principles of using stains and color construction are described. Base coats and tops coats are illustrated and over ten methods of faux finishing tips and tricks are included. All tools should be available at your local home centers.

Outstanding Corners

This is the first of many videos in the arena of focal points and creating a stronger referral element. This video covers the power of an outside corner and how to bring a lot great visual subtleties to this focal point.

Amazing Arches

Arches are very important and attention to detail is the rule of thumb. This will not be the last video on this topic as I do many types of arches. This arch video covers the element of a confined space and visual tricks in carving.

Hidden Drawers

As new developments arise they are featured. The Hidden Drawers video is one such element. This is a very effective way to add excitement and fantasy to your projects. The method is easy and with a few extra hours of work you can add a great conversation piece to your project to be enjoyed for a life time.

Raw Materials -  This is the first in a series describing the elements that are used in mixes.
